Our Humble Foundations

The Mary Nwamadi Foundation

We are born from the remarkable life and legacy of Mrs. Mary Nwamadi (1947–2006), a woman of immense grace, unwavering faith, and a boundless heart for humanity. Fondly remembered as ‘Aunty M,’ her life was a masterclass in selfless service and unconditional love.

Established in her loving memory by her children, the foundation seeks to immortalize her spirit by continuing the work she passionately pursued throughout her existence. We believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to live a life of dignity and purpose. Our work is a continuation of her journey—a solemn promise to keep her light shining brightly by touching lives, breaking the cycles of poverty, and providing sustainable solutions that foster true independence across rural communities.

About Mary Nwamadi

Biography & Foundations

Mrs. Mary Nwamadi was born into the family of His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness Akashiri Ifukor (both of blessed memories) on the 8th day of March, 1947, at Obiaruku in the Kwale local government area of Delta State, Nigeria. Raised within a polygamous family setting as the first child of her mother, she navigated her early life with resilience, eventually attending Primary School, Secondary, and Teachers Training College (T.T.C.) institutions, where she graduated meritoriously.

Marital & Family Matrix

In 1962, she was united in marriage to Mr. Clement Nwamadi. Their union was blessed with seven surviving children—four sons and three daughters—who affectionately called her "Aunty Mary" and grew up under her constant, protective care and values.

Relationship & Social Print

Aunty Mary was a highly social, kindhearted, and widely admired personality. Her embracing, caring, and charming nature broke down barriers of discrimination. She held a firm belief that every human being deserves a room for improvement to better their lives. She lived entirely for mankind—both young and old, notable figures and the less privileged alike—acting as a true mother to the motherless until her passing on March 6, 2006.

A Legacy of Faith and Service

Aunty M was deeply committed to her Christian life, serving the Lord with dedication. She was a notable Christian mother, a staunch charismatic, a chorister, and an active member of the Sacred Heart Society.

Her home served as a sanctuary for many, including various seminarians posted to do their apostolic works at Azara Ubo, Owerri North. Notable among them were Rev. Father Innocent Emam and Rev. Monsignor Clement Chigbu (of blessed memory). She raised her children in faith, lived as a virtuous wife, and hated idleness, keeping a constant, loving watch over her family's path. It is in direct honor of these values, her deep faith, and her love for humanity that her children established the Mary Nwamadi Foundation.
