The Mary Nwamadi Foundation Soft Loan Scheme for the poor and less privileged members of the society kicked off to a good start in May 15th 2024 with an initial grant of fifty thousand naira each to recipients selected from the local Nigerian community in Imo State Nigeria, Azaraegebelu Emekuku, in the Owerri North Local Government Area.
The recipients were selected from the four villages which make up the Azaraegbelu community, namely: Onum, Umuokoro, Umuezuhu and Amachara.
The pioneer recipients of the loan scheme are as follows:
- Mrs. Chizoma Eberiuche
- Stella Nwachukwu
- Mrs. Emili Nwanna
- Mrs. Chiamaka Ekeh
The Mary Nwamadi Soft Loan Scheme was established by the foundation as part of it’s commitment to uplifting the poor and needy in chosen African communities all aimed at alleviating the difficulties and challenges of eking out a living among Africa’s poor.
This and other community initiatives like the market sweeping project which was bank rolled by the Mary Nwamadi Foundation for the Azaraegbelu, Emekuku Community in Imo State Nigeria are all in furtherance of the foundations aims and objectives and are the foundations little way of contributing to poverty alleviation in general.
